A Word From A Maine State Rep

Karen Gerrish, Maine State Representative out of Lebanon voices frustration about what is currently happening while in session. No doubt this a symbolic microcosm of what occurs all across the country and also in DC on a regular basis.  Sad... but also unfair to the American voter who gets short changed by those who would rather play games then participate in a direct vote. Here is what Karen posted this morning on social media...

"I just love that I was on the road at 6 a.m. this morning to do the people's work in the House of Representatives and EVERY SINGLE BILL thus far (up to 5) have been tabled by the Democrats. What a waste of taxpayer money. Republicans are roll calling the tabling motions and losing each time. We have very little time left before statutory adjournment. So here we are to do the people's work but are not doing it."

Scott Walker Endorses Cruz/Trump Campaign Manager Charged

"Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker formally endorsed Texas Sen. Ted Cruz on Tuesday, saying he is "a strong new leader" and "constitutional conservative."
"After all these years of the Obama-Clinton failures, it's time we elect a strong new leader and I've chosen to endorse Ted Cruz," Walker told conservative radio host Charlie Sykes on Tuesday."

The above is an excerpt from a CNN announcement made just a few minutes ago.
Good news for Cruz.
Also, Ben Jacobs of ABC news just tweeted that Corey Lewandowski, The Donald's Campaign Manager was charged in an alleged battery of a Breitbart Reporter.
Bad news for Trump.
The plot thickens...

GOP Presidential Town Hall Tonight But Why No Debate?

CNN will host a GOP town hall tonight starting at 8pm. It can also be live streamed via CNN. Andersen Cooper will moderate. All three candidates will participate. But from what I understand, they will NOT be on the stage at the same time together while answering questions from the audience and host.

Why not?

Cause then it would be a debate. And one candidate does NOT want a 3 man debate.

Who?

Donald Trump.

How do I know this?

Every time Trump is challenged by Cruz or asked by various media outlets about doing a three man debate, he changes the subject and pivots into talking about anything but. I've seen this over and over again whether on tv, the internet or talk radio.

The Donald likes and wants to control his political environment and the media lets him.

Why?

Ratings and the financial bottom line. Trump makes them money. Pure and Simple. And if they were to push him too far on the issue, he'd threaten to not come on their station again.

Is this fair to the American public?

No.

So what can we do about it?

Not a whole lot other than bombard various media outlets, the candidates websites and social media outlets demanding a debate. Then maybe they would listen and do their best to push for one before the convention in July.

Will this happen? Will people demand a debate vs town halls only?

Who the heck knows. I've given up trying to out guess this entire election cycle. It's like nothing I've ever seen since I started following politics in the late 70s, early 80s.

Milo Yiannopaulas Speaks About The Brussels Attack and Trump

Here are two links to interviews of the  British born journalist and entrepreneur talking about the Brussels attack and Donald Trump. The first video on the attack lasts about 8 minutes. The second on Trump, political correctness, etc. about 25. The guy is quite the character but extremely thought provoking and worth listening to...

Donald's Maturity Age

Important Maine Bill On Immigration Policy

Here's an excerpt from Larry Lockman's post in regards to bill #LD1652 re: immigration policies. Thanks Karen Gerrish for sounding the alert. This is important stuff. No reason police should not be able to inquire about one's immigration status. Read on...

Today was Day 9 of Rep. Jeff McCabe's campaign to shut down debate on LD 1652, "An Act Regarding Municipal ...Immigration Policies.

If enacted, the legislation would deny state aid to any municipality that prohibits local law enforcement officers from gathering information regarding the immigration status of any individual.

Portland enacted a city ordinance in 2003 that explicitly prohibits police officers from inquiring into the immigration status of any person, or engaging in activities for the purpose of ascertaining the immigration status of any person.

When the bill came to the floor of the House last week to be referred to committee for public hearings, McCabe moved to table the bill unassigned, a rarely used parliamentary "nuclear option" that effectively kills the bill without debate or public hearings -- unless and until McCabe recalls the bill from the table.

The motion to "table unassigned" is not debatable.

The tabling motion passed on a straight party-line roll call vote (#497) on Tuesday, March 15.

Today I stood on the floor of the House to inquire through the Chair (Speaker Eves) whether or not Rep. McCabe is prepared to recall the bill from the table so that we can move forward with public hearings on this legislation.

McCabe sat mute in his corner seat, and within minutes abruptly left the chamber before adjournment.

Obama Dances While Brussels Struggles ...

This pic says it all ...

President Barack Obama was pictured dancing the tango this evening at a state dinner in Buenos Aires as he pushed ahead with his two-day state visit to the country despite intensifying calls for him to return home following the Brussels terror attack

Here's a link to the full article from the U.K's Daily mail about how President O spent time while Brussels struggles with terrorist aftermath.

Court Rebukes IRS For Targeting Tea Party & Conservative Non-Profits

It's about time the courts have shined a light upon the corruption of the IRS and how it has targeted Tea Party and Conservative non-profit groups. Also highlighted in the Washington Times article below is the fact that the Justice Dept. defended the IRS. Who controls the JD? Obama, of course ... though it would never be admitted to by any of the parties involved. Read on:

Election Results & Delegate Count

Looks like the Trumpster won Arizona as expected and Cruz took Utah. Both candidates led by wide margins respectively.

Kasich took 2nd place in Utah with Trump coming in 3rd. Ted came in 2nd in Arizona with Kasich coming in 3rd.

Kasich did not gain any delegates as Arizona is a winner take all state and Utah allots 40 delegates to whomever wins 50% or more of the vote.

Here is the current delegate count for the GOP candidates as of today. Remember the magic number to win the nomination is 1,237.

Trump - 739

Cruz    - 465

Kasich - 143

Another Terror Attack In Europe. This time Belgium's Hit

Woke up this morning. Made a cup of tea, turned on the news and expected the usual political chit chat involving the presidential race.

Instead there was coverage of the terror attack that took place in Brussels, Belgium at their airport and subways earlier. The attack came only 4 months after the Paris attacks and shortly after the capture and arrest of terror suspect Salah Abdeslam.

So far 34 are dead and 170 injured.

In response, Obama 'pledged to stand in solidarity with Belgium' and 'do whatever it takes is necessary to bring the perpetrators to justice'. But according to the latest news, Obama has not changed his plans due to the attack, head home and see how the United States could help. Instead he plans on attending a scheduled baseball game in Cuba and then fly to Argentina. Maybe that will change. I would hope so, but I'm not holding my breath.

Here is a link as to how Cruz, Trump and Kasich reacted to the event:

Obama Visits Cuba

President Obama is currently visiting Cuba. He is the first president to do so since the revolution in 1959. What kind of impact could this historical coming together of Raul Castro (Fidel's brother) and Barack Obama have on Cuba and the U.S.?

Since talks between them began about 15 months ago, Cuba has opened its doors to American businesses. Most notable are Google and Mariott Hotels. Could this be the beginning of free enterprise and a bit of capitalism in the communist country?

Maybe, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Why?

From what I understand,  Castro hasn't any intention of letting go of his power and communist, one party rule. No doubt he will try to hold onto it and continue to run Cuba with an iron fist.

However, I wonder whether once the internet is somewhat available to the public,  more American companies are open for business and tourism becomes more prominent, can progress truly be stopped?

Only time will tell.

How Presidential Delegates Are Distributed Once A Candidate Drops Out

Now that Rubio has dropped out of the GOP race for president, his delegates are up for grabs by the candidates still in the picture once the Convention rolls around in July.  All 164 of them.

But not so fast.

There are 3 tiers of delegates, each released at different times but only according to the different rules set by the convention itself along with the states where those delegates were gained. Gets kind of complicated and difficult to explain, but if interested in learning about it all,  check out the link to the  article below.

The bottom line is that Rubio will definitely have a certain amount of power in deciding to whom SOME of the delegates go and thus who might be the nominee. No doubt Trump, Cruz and even Kasich are already cozying up to Marco with hopes of gaining those delegates.

However, most likely the battle will be between The Donald and Cruz. What about Kasich? Mathematically he has absolutely NO chance of winning the correct amount of delegates. Regardless he'll play a part, like Rubio come the convention with hopes of making a deal to possibly play a part in a future administration.

What a game it is!

Trump Limiting Press Coverage

Wow. Just read this article by the Washington Examiner and was stunned. Here is an excerpt:

"[T]he Trump campaign, citing security concerns from Secret Service, dictated to the networks that their camera crews could only shoot Trump head-on from a fenced-in press pen," Blaine continued. "Under the Trump campaign's conditions, camera crews would not be able to leave the press pen during Trump's rallies to capture video of audience reactions, known in the industry as 'cutaway shots' or 'cuts.' Networks would also not be able to use a separate riser set up to get cutaway shots. The terms, which limit the access journalists have to supporters and protesters while Trump is speaking, are unprecedented, and are more restrictive than those put on the networks by the White House or Hillary Clinton's campaign, which has had Secret Service protection for its duration."

Add to the above The Donald refusing to participate in 2 presidential debates and we've got a candidate who is taking control of the media. And they're letting him.

Why?

It's all about money. Trump has created his own political reality show that is watched by millions and the media does not want to lose out on future revenue by alienating him. Thus it capitulates to his demands. Plain and simple.

You have to hand it to The Donald for doing the above. No other politician in our country has dared to challenge and control media coverage the way he has.  He's found their Achilles heel ie the financial bottom line and is successfully taking advantage of it

However, is this Achilles heel of the media taking precedence over overall coverage of a political candidate running for president? Are we now only allowed to see what The Donald wants us to see and nothing more? Thus no more debates where he can be challenged nor coverage of protestors and how they are handled at his rallies? Are we now limited to only seeing the Trumpster in controlled interviews and/or environments with outlets of his choosing and ones that dare not show him in a negative light?

Definitely food for thought.

GOP Debate Canceled

First, Trump announces on Fox N Friends that he will not participate in the next GOP debate. Then Kasich joins him. Consequently, Fox cancels the debate. Wonder what's going on???

Can Any One GOP Candidate Win The Delegate Race?

Last post for the day. I promise!

Here's a link to an excellent article by the Washington Examiner. It details the different scenarios that could happen in regard to the delegate race between the remaining 3 GOP presidential candidates.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/article/2585966/

Trump Not Participating In Next GOP Debate

While watching tv this morning, I learned that the Donald has declined joining the next GOP debate to be held March 21st at 9pm on Fox News.

Why?

He claims he didn't know about it. That no one told him. That he already has a speech planned for that date and cannot reschedule. He also said that there's been plenty debates and enough is enough.

The crew on Fox N Friends faces looked devastated. In fact, one of them, Brian Kilmeade practically begged him to reconsider. The Donald then said how much he loves coming on their show, that they are wonderful people, but basically he cannot break his commitment.

The real reason? And this is strictly my opinion...

I think he does not want to duel with Megyn Kelly or Ted Cruz.

Though Megyn and Trump somewhat kissed and made up during the last debate, new animosity has come between them.

Why?

Because of the Breitbart reporter mess where Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski allegedly assaulted their reporter, Michelle Fields.

Kelly had her and Ben Shapiro and others on her show giving their side to the story and Trump doesn't like it. Plain and simple. And Trump (please forgive me if you're a fan) is nothing if not vengeful. He also doesn't like anyone challenging him. If they do, he double downs and strikes back twice as hard. So not coming to the next debate held on Fox is a form of punishment.

However, I think it is also a coward's way out to avoid confrontation about a subject he does not want to discuss. Especially as investigations are now going on and a police report has been filed.

The Trumpster has done the same with C-PAC. They wanted to control the timing and questioning of the presidential candidates' appearances and The Donald did NOT want to comply. Thus he said he had a previous commitment that he could not break and had to cancel.

The above, along with knowing Cruz would challenge and outshine him in a zillion ways is why The Donald is a questionable candidate as far as I'm concerned. If you can't take the heat. Get out of the kitchen.

A Brit Lets Loose About The Presidential Race

A friend sent this link to me this morning. It's a short, 5 minute or so video made by a Brit about the current race for president in the United States. Interesting...

https://www.youtube.com/embed/iHLcrfhwPtc?&rel=0

Obama Announces SCOTUS Nominee

From what I understand, Obama has named his choice to replace Justice Scalia on the Supreme Court via Twitter of all places...

Who is it?

Merrick Garland.

Here's what the Washington Post wrote about him awhile back:

"To some, Merrick Garland’s experience and demeanor could make him the quintessential Supreme Court candidate for a Democratic president.

A magna cum laude Harvard Law School graduate, he clerked not just for any Supreme Court justice but for William J. Brennan Jr., the legendary liberal champion. He was a partner at a prominent Washington law firm, then ascended the ranks at the Justice Department, where he oversaw two of the biggest domestic terrorism cases in U.S. history."

So the question is now. Will the GOP fight the nomination like they've promised to? That is the million dollar question. Stay tuned.

Presidential Election Update

Well,  it looks like The Donald is on his way to win the GOP nomination after winning Florida, Illinois and North Carolina in yesterday's primary race.

However, Cruz is right behind him and may win Missouri as The Donald is only 2/10 of a percent ahead of him. The race is still too close to call.

Meanwhile,  Kasich won his own state of Ohio, thus increasing his delegate count. Consequently, he seems determined to stay in the race, even if it's just as a spoiler. Of course he'll never admit to that.

Rubio dropped out after losing Florida.

For delegate counts,  check out this site which updates faster than another site I had given a link to awhile back. Here it is:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=presidential+2016+delegate+count&eob=m.09c7w0/R/3/full/m.09c7w0/g.11bx8t2f5p

Meanwhile, there's lots of talk and rumors about how the establishment block of the GOP party is conniving to deny The Donald the nomination. I've heard Romney might jump in. Or that Paul Ryan, the new Speaker of the House might be drafted. I've also gathered that since Kasich mathematically cannot reach the correct delegate amount to win, the establishment might throw its weight behind Ted Cruz. Maybe even draft Marco as his running mate.

Other thoughts are that should The Donald run short of the required 1,237 votes needed to win the nomination, but come very close, there will be either a contested or brokered convention. That could be interesting.

What's the difference between contested and brokered convention? A lot.

If a contested convention, the delegates would keep voting till there's a clear winner. If a brokered one, that's where trouble could rear its ugly head. How so?

Cause a brokered convention is where the party 'powers that be' decide who the nominee will be. In other words, a deal would be made behind the scenes, without the input of We the people. Not good.

Could the above happen? Who the heck knows. Anything is possible in this current race. Anything.

Protester's Shut Down Trump Rally

Last night a large group formed to protest a rally that was to be held in Chicago for Donald Trump. Things got quite ugly. Fortunately, The Donald canceled the rally or who knows how many people would have been hurt.

Here's a brief interview with Marco Rubio with Megyn Kelly. Rubio hit the nail on the head with his analysis of the event. Watch and listen here. Lasts about 6 minutes:

GOP Debate

This will be short.

Watched the GOP debate last night on CNN and thoroughly enjoyed it. All four candidates did well, discussed the issues and did NOT get down and dirty. So refreshing! No doubt they've all decided it was time to play nice, for whatever reason. How long will this last? Who knows. But it sure was a relaxing break from all the mud slinging.

Did I learn anything new? Not really.

Than what's the point?

The point was to see how each candidate handled themselves. Do they contradict stances previously taken? How do they respond to challenges by their fellow candidates? Are they coherent and articulate? Could you trust them to do what they say they will do once in office?

This was, I think, the 11th or 12th GOP debate and the one candidate I've really come to admire is John Kasich. He's the only one who hasn't played nasty, has continually discussed policy and issues and has a long term, proven success record. If Cruz were not running, he'd be my guy. In fact, I think Ted should take note of Kasich, his easy going manner and the way he's stayed out of the fray and above it all. Think it would do him well...

Speaking of which.

Trump, Cruz and Rubio also did well. For once, The Donald kept his name calling to himself and actually looked somewhat presidential.

Cruz had some great lines also.

Rubio, having gone back to soaring patriotic rhetoric,  redeemed himself in my eyes.

Overall, though nothing new was said, last night's debate restored my faith that the GOP can come together, behave like adults rather than immature teenagers having a food fight and work for the good of the party and thus possibly beat Hillary, should she be the nominee. That's what it's really all about. Beating the Democrats and restoring sanity to the White House.

Update About Reporter Being Allegedly Manhandled By Trump Campaign

Here's a link to an update about the story I mentioned in my entry about The Drudge Report where Corey Lewandowski, a Trump campaign person, allegedly manhandled a female Breitbart reporter. Trump still denies it happened but others say different...

http://www.breitbart.com/big-journalism/2016/03/11/horse-race-livewire-10/

I Rest My Case ...

Shortly after posting two blogs, I decided to check the Drudge Report to see what new headlines were in store that would shore up favorability for The Donald and blast his opponents. Sure enough, there's a Huge photo of Ted Cruz with a headline about how he's of the Pentacostal religion and thus a crazy guy who will probably push his religion onto Americans, should he be elected.

My oh my...

Mike Lee Endorses Ted Cruz

Things are tightening up and more endorsements are coming in for various candidates. One that I'm thrilled about,  is the endorsement of Ted Cruz by Mike Lee, Senator out of Utah. Lee is very well liked and respected in the Senate and has worked closely with Cruz on a lot of stuff.

With that being said, Cruz has also been endorsed by Neil Bush, W's brother. Not thrilled about that as he does not have a stellar reputation. Plus, he's a Bush and though I love the Bush family, I don't want another one anywhere near the White House.

Which brings to mind the following question. Could these recent endorsements have been encouraged by the group that met in Georgia to promote an anti-Trump movement,  as a way to shore up Cruz as the possible alternative to Trump?

Food for thought...

What's With The Drudge Report?

Being the  news and political junkie I am, I read ALOT of stuff online. Daily and often.  My favorite go to site?

The Drudge Report.

Nothing like it,  as it provides a varied compendium of headlines and fast breaking stories with corresponding links to just about every news website, pundit and blog on the planet. And as I've written before,  it drives the rest of the media's coverage whether it be via television, radio, the printed word or online sites. I've noted this time and again in my Blog.

With the above being said, I'll admit that The Drudge Report definitely leans to the right. And that's part of what I like about it, being the conservative/libertarian that I am.

But though Drudge definitely favors the GOP, he also offers links to articles/commentaries/stories that included all viewpoints, left and right. And I like that also.

But now there's one area where Drudge is clearly biased to the point where he's not reporting or including stories and links that reflect both sides. And that's in regard to the GOP presidential race. There's NO DOUBT he's a Trump fan. For weeks his top stories and headlines featured either positive coverage of The Donald or VERY negative stories with dramatic optics that show the opposition in an unflattering light.

An example. All this week there's been almost nothing but headlines with photos at the top of Drudge's home page showing Marco Rubio in very demeaning ways.

Also, this week, there's been a barrage of negative headlines about fellow presidential candidate Ted Cruz.

There's also been NOT ONE negative story or headline about Donald Trump. Zero. Zip. Nada.

No mistaking who Matt Drudge's gonna vote for.

One story in particular that Drudge has NOT reported on so far, is how Corey Lewandowski, who works for the Trump campaign, allegedly assaulted a female reporter from Breitbart News. And how The Donald denies it happened.

There's not a link, a headline or even a reference to what happened, anywhere on Drudge's site that I could find.

Something is SO not right about a major news reporting site omitting an important story like this.

For those interested, below is a link from an article posted on Breitbart, that includes an eye witness account from a Washington Post reporter telling what really happened.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/03/10/breitbart-news-ceo-president-responds-to-donald-trump-campaigns-attack-on-breitbart-news-reporter-michelle-fields/

As an aside, I've also noticed that Fox News has not been reporting about the incident either. That just about ALL of their coverage of Donald Trump has been positive and lacking in objectivity. Yes, Fox News definitely leans right also. And most of its' lineup feature political pundits who are paid to provide their opinions on their individual shows. And that's fine. You know exactly what you're getting and there's no smoke screen saying these shows are objective. But shouldn't the 6 o'clock news be different? Shouldn't it be an unbiased reporting of what's happening in the world?  In other words, just the facts?

Bottom line is that I no longer feel I can trust ANY media outlet to provide fair and balanced coverage of this presidential race. Not the Drudge Report, Fox News, CNN, WaPO, NYT's or even Breitbart (I've watched this site cover Trump VERY favorable up till The Donald's campaign guy's assault on their reporter).  All seem incapable of keeping their personal bias out of the picture.

Which leads me to wonder... What happened to the Fourth Estate as the press was once viewed?

Where are the journalists who report just the facts and leave their biases out of the picture?

And is it true, as some have stated, that it's now the media, the donor class and lobbyists who choose our political figures?

What happened to We The People? That is the million dollar question...

Another GOP Debate Tonight...

Can you believe there's another GOP debate being held tonight? Think this is #12. Anyway, if interested, CNN will be hosting with Jake Tapper, Dana Bash, Hugh Hewitt and Stephen Dinan moderating. If no cable, you can live stream on CNN's website.

Still in the race to the White House are Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Kasich.

May the best man win.

Trumps Wins MS, HI, MI; Cruz Wins ND

The new tally of delegates for the GOP race to the White House is as follows:

Trump 458
Cruz    359
Rubio  151
Kasich  54

How many delegates needed to win the GOP nomination? 1,237

Carly Fiorina Endorses Ted Cruz

Couldn't be more happy about this. In fact, if Ted wins the nomination ... and I know it looks like his chances are slim against The Donald, I'd be thrilled if Fiorina turns out to be his running mate. With her support and speech at Cruz' rally today at Miami Dade College, maybe he's thinking just that.

Anti-Trump Meeting At Sea Island

"Billionaires, tech CEOs and top members of the Republican establishment flew to a private island resort off the coast of Georgia this weekend for the American Enterprise Institute's annual World Forum, according to sources familiar with the secretive gathering. "

"The main topic at the closed-to-the-press confab? How to stop Republican front-runner Donald Trump"

Wow. Why so afraid of The Donald? Though I'm a Ted Cruz supporter and not crazy about the Trumpster, this meeting is a bit off-putting. It reminds me of the Bilderberg Conference which is held annually by major movers and shakers who in effect, try to predict and control world economic and political markets. There's something so NOT right about the Bilderberg conference or this meeting held in Georgia by some of the wealthiest businessmen and most powerful politicians in the country. What happened to the power of  We the People?  Shouldn't our elected officials represent us? And shouldn't our votes count and not be messed with? Food for thought...

Iran Deal About To Fall Apart ...

"Iran on Tuesday again threatened to walk away from the nuclear agreement reached last year with global powers, hours after the country breached international agreements by test-firing ballistic missiles." Quote taken from The Free Beacon's piece on what's happening with Iran and the deal reached last year ... Not good, but not surprised... Read on:

Super Tuesday & The11th GOP Debate on Fox News

Just returned from an out of town trip and finally have time to write about this week's GOP Super Tuesday vote and last night's debate held on the Fox News channel.

First, here are the results from Super Tuesday's primary and/or caucus votes:

Trump took Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, & Virginia. Cruz won Texas, Oklahoma & Alaska. Rubio placed first in Minnesota. Kasich did not win any state but gained additional delegates.

Overall, it was a win for The Donald but Cruz and Rubio made gains along with Kasich due to the proportional delegate process used in some states where 'winner takes all' does not apply.

Bottom line is that it's all about total delegate count in regards to winning the race to the White House. A candidate can claim victory in a ton of states, but if he or she doesn't have the highest total, then 'Houston, we have a problem'. Interpretation? This could lead to a heated brokered convention where the candidates would have to battle it out in order for one of them to gain the highest count in order to win.

To see where each candidate stands with the delegate count as of now, check out this site. It offers a chart that updates itself every time there's another primary or caucus.

On to last night's debate.

Though there's something to be said about watching it live, I've discovered that by waiting till the next morning, you can watch the entire production on Youtube. The advantage to this,  is that it is commercial free and only takes an hour versus 2 on tv.  Plus you can rewind and hit the pause buttons as needed. Definitely the way to go!

Moving on to the debate.

Here's a synopsis on how each candidate answered various questions.

When Cruz was asked about how the U.S. could defend itself against possible nuclear attacks by N. Korea, Iran or China, he suggested the use of a Space Base Missile Defense System which could destroy the missiles before they could reach their destination.

Kasich responded that he would 'not bite' when asked about an ad that shows Trump saying how he and Putin would get along, etc. In other words, he would not get sucked into a war of insults between he and The Donald or any of the other candidates for that matter. How people have often commented how he's the only 'adult' in the room and that's how it should be.

When asked about whether he is in favor of H1B visas for foreign workers, Trump said he was. But this contradicted his stance stated on his website which said by issuing more of these type of visa's it would hurt American workers. When this was pointed out, The Donald said that he has changed his mind.

Cruz was asked the same question. However,  it was also pointed out that Cruz was in favor of increasing the amount of H1B visa's in the past but has since changed his mind and is now against doing so. His response was that he changed his mind due to the abuse of people overstaying their time, etc.

In relation to the above Cruz made comments about how The Donald hires immigrants over American's. In response, Trump said he has done so because American's don't want short-term, part-time jobs and thus it's out of necessity.

Rubio was asked about whether he'd put troops on the ground in Libya due to the fact that ISIS now seems to be trying to take over that country. He responded that yes he would but it would be a coalition of Sunni/Arabs with U.S. help.

Kasich was asked the same question. He quoted his 18 years of serving on the Foreign Relations Committee and that yes, he would put ground and air troops in Libya. But would also, like Rubio pointed out, would like the help of others in the fight against ISIS. That his biggest fear of the terror group gaining ground in Libya would be that they would then take over the oil fields for funding.

Trump was asked if he would endorse or accept the practice of 'water boarding'/ use of torture against known terrorists. He said he would. He then defended his position by mentioning how the terrorists have no problems cutting off heads and/or drowning the opposition in cages, thus indicating that this form of interrogation is acceptable for use in the U.S.

Cruz was asked about tax reform. And how he would bring jobs to America. At first Cruz went on a tirade about how the Democrats ruined Detroit (lots of applause there), then he went on to say how he would lift crippling regulations and repeal ObamaCare. That he would also replace the current tax code with a 16% flat tax rate, which in turn would bring more jobs back to the US and level the playing field for all Americans.

Kasich was asked about his stance on gay marriage and should business owners be required to sell their services to those who violate their religious code. Kasich replied that he was for traditional marriage. That if a person owning a business has strong religious belief's and selling to gays violates those beliefs, then they shouldn't have to do so. He also said that if gays were not happy about that stance, they should just walk away rather than sue. That they should find another business that doesn't have this kind of issue.

Cruz was asked whether a gay couple should be able to adopt children. Cruz replied that he thinks that should be left up to the individual states. He then went on to mention how he has defended religious liberty in 4 different cases in U.S. Supreme Court and won every ruling.

Rubio was asked about the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms. He responded that he's in agreement with the Second Amendment and that American's have the constitutional right to protect and defend themselves.

Trump was also asked about the above and about changing his previous stance on banning assault weapons. The Donald replied that he no longer supports the banning of assault weapons and agrees with the Second Amendment.

Cruz was asked about his wanting to abolish the IRS and how realistic it would be to do so. Cruz replied by saying how he had a plan where you could fill out your taxes on a postcard and no longer would need the IRS. That there would be office at the Treasury to handle the payment of taxes and also to process returns.

Kasich was asked if he would support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour. He said he supports raising the minimum wage but not to that amount. That he has helped to increase it in his state as Governor of Ohio,  but in small increments. That he had increased jobs in Ohio by 400,000 and also balanced the budget. That as president, he would leave this issue to the states.

It was mentioned to Cruz how Jeff Sessions (Senator of Alabama) endorsed The Donald. Cruz then dumped on the Trumpster about his support of Democrats running for office and in particular about donations made to Hilary, completely avoiding commentary about the topic. To those not in the know, Sessions and Cruz had worked on some bills together and were thought to be pretty tight.

The Donald was asked by Megyn Kelly about the recent news of his interview with the NYT's where he said 'off the record' that his statements about building a wall on the border was basically a negotiating tool. Trump responded that one has to be flexible with any kind of negotiation and that 'off the record' means 'off the record' and should be respected.

All 4 candidates were asked if they would support the nominee if it were NOT them. All said they would.

Here's a brief synopsis of each of the candidates closing statements.

Kasich said that he would take his success as Governor of Ohio and apply this experience to help fix America using the same tools and skills he used to turn Ohio around.

Rubio said that he plans on making the 21st century a successful one.

Cruz said he will listen and talk with the American people, keep the government from tying their hands and thus blocking their success. That he will have their backs.

Trump said he will bring jobs back to the U.S.,  secure the border, help Vets and make America great again, etc.

So there you have it. Another debate gone by. . .
