Catching up is hard to do ...

Welcome to 2013 and my first real blog of the new year.

As I wrote just a few days ago, it's been awhile since I've made an entry. Had lots going on. Even though I was once again a delegate to the GOP state convention last May, my heart wasn't in it. Guess I somehow knew that the tide had turned and 2012 would not be a repeat of 2010 when many GOP candidates won,  we took the House, got rid of Pelosi and then nominated John Boehner as Speaker.

And,  if I'm to be completely honest, Obama winning a 2nd term knocked the wind out of my sails. I couldn't believe he beat Romney. Not that I was a huge Romney fan,  but he was our man and I thought he had a shot. A darn good one. And it's not like he lost by a landslide. Not at all. The split was something like Obama, 51%, Romney 49%. Definitely not a mandate for Obama. But a win, is a win and I just have to suck it up like a big girl and deal with it. But I couldn't for quite awhile and took a political hiatus. Instead of paying attention to the news, I watched Mad Men, Big Bang Theory and even the cooking and home and garden channels. I needed a break and time to lick my political wounds.

So here I am trying to catch up.  Not an easy task with so much happening and me taking an almost 4 month break. But here are some topics I hope to touch upon during the upcoming weeks.

First and foremost and very dear to my heart is the Benghazi story. Four American heroes dead and not a soul taking responsibility for those deaths. Though McCain and others, through the hearings,
have tried their best to try and get straight answers from the entities involved ie the state and defense departments, CIA and others, it all remains a muddle. And neither the White House nor the mainstream media seem to care. Not one bit. I think they and the dems would like to see the entire event swept away, out of site,  never to be seen or heard about again. Why? This is what I'd like to explore when more time allows.

Next of course, is the economy and how that's faring. The fiscal cliff, debt ceiling, S&P downgrading our credit rating from AAA to AA, causing the markets some jitters and the 2% increase in payroll taxes that the American public had no idea were coming. Of course there's still financial problems in Europe and now even Argentina is feeling the heat with a price freeze put into affect by their government for all supermarkets. So much to talk about, so little time.

What about the Middle East? Things are NOT improving there one iota though the current administration goes out of its way to keep that fact out of the news. Israel seems to be standing alone against Iran, Syria, etc. Though it seems (and I have lots of homework to do) we are stepping up to the plate somewhat against Al Qaeda with increased preditor drone attacks.

Then there's talk of the 2016 presidential elections. Will Hilary run?  What about Cuomo? Lots to speculate about! On the GOP side there's Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. Both viable, excellent candidates. But will they run? And what about Jeb Bush. That name keeps circling around. I wouldn't throw my hat in with him. Bush Syndrome would kick in immediately and cause nothing but pain for the GOP party.

So that's about it for now. As time allows I'll write more about each of the above topics and also try to keep up with the incredibly fast pace of current news. Looking forward to reuniting with my love for this country, politics and the world of finance.
